Acrossair, the company that brought you the Nearest Tube and New York Nearest Subway iPhone apps is launching its next venture: the San Francisco Transit iPhone app. The latest in the family of augmented reality apps lets users know where the nearest public transit stop within the city of San Francisco is. Unlike other 2D apps, this application displays all lines of San Francisco Transit in 3D arrows, including: BART, Caltrain, Muni Streetcar and bus stops. Load the app holding it flat and all lines will appear. Tilt the phone upwards to see the stops nearest to you and what direction they are in relation to where you are standing. The app will also display how many miles away the stops are and what lines they are on. When you tilt the phone further upwards, you will see stops further away as stacked icons. Only available to Apple iPhone 3GS users. This app will be available in the AppStore when version 3.1 OS update launches in September.

Really cool, but your going to be staring at your highly desirable piece of swag, will it also alert you of nayer do wells? In a pair of sunglasses really cool.

This example is pretty much absurd. YOU'RE INSIDE A BUILDING! Are you supposed to walk through the walls?!?!
What about doing this outside on the streets, where it makes sense?
The app, though, is really good. AR for normal people. Right ON!
