The Advanced Tactical parachute system (ATPS) has been selected by the US Army as the next generation static-line deployed non-steerable parachute system to replace the current T-10 non-steerable parachute system.
I see it has a slider to regulate the speed of deployment and is vented in four places. I assume this will allow for higher exit speeds than the old T10 can cope with but I wonder what malfunction modes this unusual design has. Will it spin violently if the deployment is not clean? Can the reserve deploy ok without cutting away?
