This is the Bach Prelude to Suite 1 originally for cello. I put the tab and sheet music online at

http://www.swensongs.com/bachpreludeinc.pdf

The cello key is G major, and I have seen electric bass players play this in G at the written cello pitch, which can sound very low and muddy. You need a B string to get to all the notes in that key as well. I have also seen bass players play this in G but up an octave from the cello written pitch, which sounds the same pitch as the cello. You need a 24 fret bass to get to the high G at the end, though. I transposed this to C major so that I could play all the notes on a standard 4 string bass. I'm playing the Fender into a Korg PDX4 with the "STUHARM" preset then into the sound input on the iMac.

  • @MisterDutch Glad it helped you out!

  • Hi, I love your performance and I would like to thank you for putting the tabblature online - I am a beginning bass player and it is helping me in more ways than you might think. I'm learning to play it as of today. Thanks so much!

  • @spliffffstar It is a Highway One P-bass. I do believe the neck is just in-between the jbass and pbass widths. I like it alot. Thanks for your comments!

  • What bass is that? Looks like a p-bass with a j-bass neck......sounds great by the way!!
