Clapton used to play a Les Paul in his early years with Cream. It was actually a Les Paul/SG combo, but it was discontinued, then reissued in 1989. I don't think they make them anymore, but he had always played Gibsons before he built "blackie" out of a handful of guitars he bought used and broken in Nashville a LONG time ago.

honest question, has anyone ever seen clapton playing a les paul? that bald dude on pawn starts on history says clapton plays a les paul custom but i've only ever seen him with a black and white strat. by the way, clapton is a great axe man but no one compares to stevie ray.

AMEN!!! SRV is....well lets just say words cant explain what he was and is to this day. I'm also with you on the whole PAWN STAR thing. I saw that episode and was like WTF??? I've only seen clapton with a strat. Dude is on crack
