A little messege to all those who keep saying to up the speed of the preserved herritage lines, I have one thing to say... Not ALL preserved locomotives can travel at such speeds, some where only built to shunt, and not travel very fast. Plus if all the engines were made to travel at that speed, something that isn't very well maintained is sure to give, and if it gives way at high speed... The locomotive could become seriously damaged and we could end up with some serious injuries or fatalities
just think if the GCR had stayed open you might have seen HST's regularly

what about the speed limit on demo freights and parcel trains?
grannyjone 2 years ago
On normal service trains, they are to not exceed 25MPH

The GCR have special dispensation to run at 60 MPH on test, as long as there are no fare paying passengers on board.

they ought to start running the regular services at speed then (!) instead of trundling at a crappy 25mph maximum!

the line is cleared for 75mph and 60mph passenger ive been told.
