My character:
Race: Dwarf
Classes:
Fighter - 4
Bard - 1
Red Dragon Disciple - 8 (Not even immune to fire, here)
Alignment - Lawful Good (dropped a bit to get a level in bard)

Tips for character:
Go anything except lawful. You COULD choose Sorcerer, but then you won't be able to USE MAGIC DEVICE. Fighters using scrolls ftw. Save the scrolls; they will help you substantially.
I prefer Dwarves for the +2 CON and resistances. Don't mind the -2 to CHA, fighters won't need it. Reason for Dwarves over Humans is because most Human fighters take toughness as the bonus feat, anyhow, which the +2 CON makes up for.
Start with 16 STR 12 DEX 18 CON 8 WIS 14 INT 6 CHA
STR - You'll get +8 over the course of Red Dragon Disciple, which stacks with items.
DEX - Choose 12 to get a +1 modifier. Full Plate (Which is what you should be wearing) only allows 1 point of DEX armour bonus. You won't need the dodge feat. Besides, Dwarven Defender isn't really that useful in this game. You'll be fine for armour class.
CON - 18 CON is great to start with. Your levels in RDD will raise your CON to 20, but you can also spend points in it as you level up, seeing as your strength will hardly need boosting. Besides, you're a tank!
WIS - 8 WIS is enough. You will probably find the Golden Circlet in chapter 2, making you immune to mind spells. Besides, you'll pick up good rings of resistance, anyway.
INT - The reason for 14 INT is because the expertise feat is beyond valuable. Get it ASAP, same applies to improved expertise. the +10 tradeoff of attack bonus for armour class is well worth it, in most situations. This will also increase as you go along, to 16. This is extremely helpful for putting points into the useful skills.
CHA - 6 CHA, increases to 8 throughout RDD. Not particularly useful. You can just retry most persuade checks, anyway. Save CHA boosting items (Nymph's Cloak, Mask of Persuasion, Belt of the Performer etc.) for when you talk to merchants.

Your character will basically become a titanic tanking machine, capable of doing a lot of damage AND casting spells from scrolls. His first level in Bard will also allow you to join the mages guild, which I heartily recommend doing. Oh, and you can breathe fire.

  • What do you think about an Half Orc whit start stat of 20 strength and 20 consitution that is Fighter and then goes bard>Red dragon disciple? I know that Half-Orcs has an penality of intelligence witch can hurt abit to get enough skill points. In the end, he would have 28 strength and 22 consitution.

  • @torerik1234 Half orcs don't get a constitution bonus. They also suck in conversations. Also, it might hurt you in the reflex and will saves department unless you religiously hoard savethrow items.

  • @Chebmeh Yes I do belive half orcs can have 20 on constitution, just like dwarfs, but dwarfs cannot have 20 on strengths.

  • @torerik1234 You've probably modded it. They only get a +2 bonus to strength, no other attribute. Look it up. Half orcs get +2 STR -2 INT and -2 CHA.

  • One good thing about fighting dragons in NWN 1is at least they fit on the screen; good thing too as this game had a lot of dragons :) . In NWN 2 because of the awkward camera angles at times the dragon battle (Whatever you call that dragon in the fire giant mountains) I had was bloody difficult to see what was going on; I had no problem with the dragons being monstrous in size but it was damn tough seeing where my party members were.

  • @Damocles178 Well there was only so much they could do with the engine. Remember that neither NwN game is great in terms of gameplay and such due to the fact that the engine was built for user modding. I suppose they didn't see a need for extended camera ranges.

  • @LihielHwang Are you gonna put out or just saying your girl because that makes you special?

Girl gamers hate when treated differently but always do that crap. Look at a female profile on Steam.

  • @LihielHwang I'm a male. I have the appropriate genitalia.

Sorry, I never understood why girl gamers have ever been seen as rare, or something to point out.

  • Nice tanking there, I despise how much XP is sapped from you when you kill him with your partner.

  • @Chebmeh Yes, you were right. My bad. I dont know anything of "modding"

  • @xXxFellxXx I might be wrong but I think you have to use dead eggs or something like that to weaken him. Because Klauth uses a process where he eats or absorbs red dragon eggs to increase his life. This is how it is explained that you can kill him.
