  • You're welcome Frosty. All the best with your son. How old is he?

  • it's for feel I'm guessing. I wonder why the original poster doesn't answer the question though ?

  • Frosty, you're right. It's for feel and touch. Beginners aren't able to control the ball well enough to do this drill competently. TennisMindGame accurately points out that it imposes a discipline on the players that teaches them not to "swing at the ball in a natural, non-thinking way."

  • i'm pretty sure this is not volleying......cuz i am pretty good at it.

  • uhh they look intimidating...-.-

  • well i guess its good for biginners but for advance....... it wont help u at all

  • Thanks for the speedy reply ExpertTennis, I am going to start doing this drill with my son, it really is great, and seems to really make them think about what they are doing, instead of just hitting the ball.

  • Excellent drill. It teaches the kids not to swing at the ball in a natural non-thinking way. I use the same drill with beginners hitting groundstrokes on shourt court.

  • I assume it's to develop "feel."

  • why is this useful?
