I know exactly what he means! Even though I have rejected the "holy spirit", I can still speak in tongues exactly the same as when I was a devout Catholic attending charismatic prayer groups. I still get all the feelings that I used to identify as god, but I get them from different sources.
@macgeek2004 He's the head of the Freedom From Religion Foundation and does a weekly radio show in Madison, WI with his wife, Annie-Laurie Gaylor. They also put out that radio show as a podcast, which is the only way I can enjoy it since none of the radio stations where I live carry it.
Wow...THIS guy should be "leading" the Gnu Atheists' PR campaign. Seriously. I'm an atheist, and always have been ever since I grew out of the tooth fairy, but I'd imagine this is one of the few people who could speak to Christians and they'd actually listen and give him time of day. He has the viewpoint AND the qualifications, I mean WOW. And he's NEVER vitriolic...at ALL. Effective.
I had to make the choice he mentions around 9 minute mark. It was really hard and I still haven't told any of my family out of fear and respect. It would devastate my entire family structure and I would be "that" son of "that" family to all the other people in my families church. They are very social and nosy when it comes to other people's struggles and are very quick to point them out (out of love of course).
I will most likely live with this secret out of fear.
That was an important point to bring up about everyone thinking about the end times being "really soon!"
The Jehovah's Witnesses actually did stop making predictions after 1975. It's far too costly to be definite about it, since it hasn't worked out for Christians yet.

@EducatedRebellion101
Wow! You've copied and pasted the same comment to every episode.
Can't address each segment on its own terms?
Can't think of anything original to add?
Seems like you learned your religion by rote: pulpit talk regurgitated.

No Dan @2:10. Jesus DID show them the Kingdom via His transfiguration Matt16v28 then the following verses in Matt 17v1-8.

I liked the part about God being a fable or metaphor written by man as a means to tell a moral story.
