  • thanks man !!!! this helped a lot ! xD

  • You're the best! Been looking for this for a while now

  • @bobyo4 Yes, too each his own. If your comfortable with a certain workflow, and produce good work with said work flow, the programs shouldn't matter. I have yet to find something I physically can't do in OnLocation, Premiere and After Effects.

It's the price that honestly bothers me. Lol knowing that my student discounted Master Collection doesn't come close to the cost of other software makes me a bit worried that sooner or later I'll need to start all over on a new suite.

  • @JustCallMeEddie Ya thats true, idk im starting to get more jobs and work in the industry and so far everything i have needed has been in Premiere and After Effects i don't think i will ever need to go beyond. My boss at the production company i intern for actually uses a slightly outdated program called Media 100 its kinda funny. But i guess whatever works for the person whose using it ya know?

  • @bobyo4 But what gets me is the MASSIVE price jump between Avid Composer and Premiere Pro. Maybe I'll find a torrent somewhere and try it out, but I know from a buddy of mine Avatar was cut on Avid, an outdated version at that, and was rendered using outdated duel core system. I just don't know if Avid is really worth the massive price jump, I don't think it even has GPU acceleration. Defiantly want to get to the bottom of this.

  • @bobyo4 Oh no doubt! But Adobe really doesn't have the greatest track record with video editing, but I have myself made the switch from Final Cut (bought a higher end PC instead of editing on Mac) I couldn't afford Avid, and even though its important to know for getting bigger jigs, it interests me far less than CS5. Adobe could win this, especially with the updates and how seamless my work flow already is even being new to most of the CS5 software. Really cool stuff.

  • @JustCallMeEddie just wait premiere is stepping up to the plate and more and more pros are switching over. With its new release even more people will be making the switch. There are some crazy new features that haven't been released yet but ive been talking to some people who are sponsored by adobe.

  • @LRGamers Let me just add, Avid makes MUCH more expensive software, and said software has the option to use external "keyboards" beyond just the standard, basically, Premiere is the lowest end of the "pro editing suite" spectrum and is really only geared to armatures. (I use that term loosely, when I think 'pro' I think the back room boys for such movies as Avatar and Spiderman etc.

Still Adobe has come a long way since its first software suites. FCP is tanking. PM if you want more info.
