Thirteen civil rights demonstrators were shot dead by the British Army on the streets of Derry on what became known as 'Bloody Sunday'. They were protesting against the British Government's policy of imprisonment without trial in N.Ireland. The people of Derry know what happend that day - they witnessed the slaughter in broad day-light. Since then the British Government has always sought to cover-up the truth of what happened to prevent the rest of the world from knowing the crimes it committed against defenceless civil rights protesters on what became known as 'Bloody Sunday'.

  • @thosewerehappydays,from what I've read about Martin McGuiness & Gerry Adams, you might be right.I've read a lot about Bloody Sunday, & researched as much info that's out there, & I've sort of suspected that they might of been responsible, also.A little casualty to further the cause is always a good thing.I hate to think that of them, but that's my suspicions. Its sad, too, that there had to be innocent deaths. Its too bad everything got so bad that there had to be bloodshed on both sides.

  • incredible scenes man, congrats for putting it online!

  • @afuturekerrybrooke the paras were sent in to teach the derry people a painful lesson that day, they didnt think the irish people would rise up and stand up for their right to self determination and if that meant taking on the might of the british then so be it.

to get peace the irish people went to war.

  • england your hands will be forever stained with the blood of derry's innocent.

    So, rioting deserves being shot!

Sounds like Apartheid type thinking to me!

The situation in Derry was dire, but NO soldiers were shot at or injured - they MURDERED innocent people.

  • If you really want to know who is responsible for all this, look no further than Martin McGuiness and Gerry Adams who stood behind all this and commanded these young people to riot with the troops. You need to look at the whole picture, the months leading up to this event seen Derry descend into chaos with shootings and bombings happening on an HOURLY basis. It simply had to end. Of course, they shot the wrong guys, but EVERY other tactic had failed.
