Because that's the old way of saying V in swedish?

@hemligsson The weapon factory name is Carl GustaFFFFF. Why does everyone forget that.

Yeah. i know they have updated it. I use the m3 myself, but it works the same. The only difference is performance is if you use old or modern grenades.
I wouldn't use this against a modern MBT like a Abrams or a Challanger 2 unless it was shooting at me and i had no were to run.

@rufust1975 The worst of the damage to the tank was the MILAN knocked the optics out of line, meaning that the driver couldn't see where he was going. Took all of six hours to fix once it had been recovered.
-
@Araben13 They have updated it a couple of times since then, the latest version (M3), from 1991 onwards has gone all carbon fibre barrel sheath and aluminium fittings rather than all steel. Shaves about 14lb off of the weight of the rifle itself.
I agree with you about the decreasing effectiveness of most shoulder fired weapons. Case in point, a Challenger 2 managed to drive through an ambush into a ditch in Iraq. Before it could be recovered it took 14 RPGs and a MILAN.

I strangely remembered the warhead being more powerful than this though...what ammunition was fired? Sub-calibre training rounds?

@SoldatenArvidsjaur23
The weapon is not named after the present king Carl XVI Gustav. Rather the name stems from Carl Gustavs Stads Gevärsfaktori ("Rifle Factory of Carl Gustav's town") wich was procured by Bofors. The history behind the name Carl Gustavs Stads (Carl Gustav's town) dates back to 1659 when Carl X Gustav granted the city of Eskilstuna its city rights and ordered the forming of the cities industrial zones.
