Matt Chapman won the Silver and Bronze medals, and the Hillard Trophy in the 1998 World Aerobatic Championships, held in Trencin, Slovakia. Matt was the highest-finishing U.S. pilot in the event, placing third for the Men's Team. It's been 18 years since a U.S. pilot has placed at a World Contest. In addition, Matt has performed at Oshkosh, Sun n' Fun, and for ESPN, Fox Sports Network, Real TV, TLC's Amazing America, and Speed Vision. And you can see Matt Chapman perform at the annual Colonial Flying Corps Museum Annual Benefit Airshow at New Garden Airport (June 11, 2006). Matt has called New Garden Airport home since he first learned to fly in 1979. He has over 14,000 hours in the air (including more than 2500 hours in aerobatic flight). During his career in aviation, Matt Chapman has worked as a flight instructor, charter pilot, air ambulance pilot, corporate pilot, and he is now a First Officer for American Airlines, flying a MD-80. He also enjoys building and flying radio-controlled airplanes and helicopters. He lives in Kennett Square, PA, with his wife, Patti.
