@BAxitorCH I agree overall Koopman is not strong on interpretation of Bach, too flamboyant and tempo often excessive. He thinks he's good..his head always nervously bobbing up and down during performances

How many trills..maybe I'm the only one in the whole world but I don't like Koopman's style at all, I can't listen a Koopman recording to enjoy the piece..I think his performances miss completly what Bach wanted trasmit with his music; this performance have no sense in my opinion..-.-..

An unusual interpretation. Misses Bach's depth. A profound work I have often played at the end of funerals where it captures and elevates the angst of the occasion as the departed departs. I am sure it was written for such. Fits the logistics.

Ton Koopman is known for his "unorthodox" playing - very interesting how he does it here, trying to make that "sophisticated" piece of everlasting music a little bit more happier. i don't know if that matches the heart of it...?
