    khara hara priya doesn't mean "donkey killer's favourite". "khara" here refers to the "kadapayathi samkhya".

    khara is the prefix to identify the ragam's # in the melakartha scheme. "kha" and "ra" are assigned the value 2 each. So, "khara" represents "22"; easy reference for "harapriya", the 22nd raagam

    Same goes for all the melakartha ragams like "dheera shankarabharanam" or "mesha kalyani" etc.,
