Tony T here with our Rockstar quick hitter for Saturdays UFC action. Saturday night December 27th on PPV its UFC 92 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Nevada. On the undercard of Forrest Griffin versus Rashad Evans we have a heavyweight fight as Antonio Nogueira battles with Frank Mir. A check of the odds show Nogueira as the huge favorite in this fight at 360 with Mir the underdog at +300. Nogueira has won 7 of his past 8 fights and is a former Pride Heavyweight champion. This is his 3rd fight in the UFC and has wins over Tim Sylvia and Heath Herring. The winner of this fight will face UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. Nogueira is a well rounded fighter earning 19 submission victories in his 31 fights. He has faced the great Fedor Emelianenko on three occasions and never tapped out. The fights with Fedor went the distance in 2 bouts with 1 being stopped by accidental head butt. In 31 pro fights Antonio has never tapped out or been knocked out by anyone in the sport. And he has fought the best competition the heavyweight division has to offer. Frank Mir is coming off a win over Brock Lesnar at UFC 81 by submission but Brocwasnt the same fighter back then as he is now. Lesnar by even his own admission made mistakes in that fight. Note that this is being billed as an interim heavyweight title match as Nogueira earned that title beating Tim Sylvia after the former champion Randy Couture was in a contract dispute with the UFC. The significance of that means this becomes a 5 round fight. That gives Nogueira the advantage here behind his tremendous stamina and experience in this sport.
