  • Hone Mihaka is reciting the mountains 'nga Pou ote whare tapu o Ngapuhi'

    the posts of the sacred/restricted house of the Ngapuhi tribe.

    Ranginui (skyfather) is the roof Papatuanuku (Earthmother) is the floor.

    If you join the dots between the Maunga (mountians) it gives u a boundary the traditional area under the Mana (power/influence) of Ngapuhi-nui-tonu.

  • This is an good video from a linguistic point of view. It is interesting how the accent changes between the English and the Maori bits.. almost like 2 different people speaking.
