  • whats your opinion on screens for pipes and filters

  • @highron2 I"ve never seen a real tobacco pipe with a screen. But filters in briar pipes help cut down on tongue bite. But also they cut down on the body of flavor. It's a trade off.

  • I'm a fan of your Vids, however there hasn't been much in the way of "How" its just been info concerning pipes. Id like to hear some packing techniques, cleaning methods, matches Vs lighters that sort of thing!! -Thanks

  • @MrHipilopzicopolis That will be in section two. I'm almost finished with section one.

  • @SmokeRingsPipeDreams i personally smoke both filter and non filter pipes depending on the mood. the filter brand also affects the taste (generally cheaper filters will reduce the taste more since they filter the smoke more too)

  • @pjacobo I am tempted to say that you need to pack a bit tighter, and that could be it. But drawig slowly is just a mattrer of practice it seems to me. Don't be in a hurry. It could also be the opposite, that your pipe is packed so tightly that you feel the need to draw a lot to keep it going. But if the draw on your pipe (before you light it) doesn't have any resistance (like drawing a cigar) then I would go with a bit tighter pack.

I was expecting to be able to draw the smoke into my mouth more slowly like you do - any thoughts?

(continued) "Big Ben - Crosley" is inscribed on the outside of the pipe bowl; anyway, I do smoke the odd cigar, and the other night I decided to finally try to smoke this pipe for the first time; I read up online and watched a few videos about how to go about it and it seemed like I was doing everything right; my experience was OK, but I found that my draw seemed to be TOO easy, almost as if I was sucking on an empty straw (full bowl tamped as instructed)

I bought my John Aylesbury "The Pipe Smoker's Beginner Set" from a pipe store in Aachen Germany (within a city block of where Charlemagne was crowned Holy Roman Emporer on Christmas Day, 800). This store has been there since 1856. It was 30 euros, and included a basic wood pipe with a curve, a triple-tool, filters, pipe cleaners, and matches. I also bought some Aylesbury Vanilla Danish Aromatic tobacco. (to be continued)

  • @pjacobo I'm sorry about that, I think I had spoken about this problem in one of my videos, but I should have put it in here earlier.
