I just thought of something... If the final boss of this game is Zelek's foot, then perhaps this is his head? I've looked at the visual design of both bosses, and it seems just similar enough to maybe be true.

Then again, Aarbron himself is designed in the same basic style, only with gray skin/carapace instead of brownish green (and humanoid).

@aerik9 I don't know of any place where there is lengthy documentation on monsters or backstory for this game, but I'm sure a quick Google search would probably lead you better than I can. I knew that this was Lobsterjaw because of the game's box art on the back had some info like that. :P There's a name for the green monster near the well outside but I can't remember it... Oh and the "Beast Lord"'s name is Maletoth, and the character's name "little purple guy" is Aarbron.

@aerik9 Oh, and the Beast Lord in the first and third games in the Beast series is "Maletoth" and the evil... sorcerer, maybe(?) in SotB 2 is Zelek.

@aerik9 I know you probubly dont care now since this is 7 months from your post but you are right. His little sister was going to become the beasts messenger because the main character Aabron was originally the beasts messenger.

I only ever played SOTB II on the Amiga, back in the day. From what I remember, Maletoth is the main "baddie", a beast overlord of some description. Zelek, the necromancer, is a beast mage who serves Maletoth. Maletoth appears in SOTB and (I presume) the finale, SOTB III. Zelek appears in SOTB II, he is the transmogrifying entity we see during the infamous opening scene and the reason why Aarbron is on the warpath (Zelek kidnapped his sister) in SOTB II.

@trydowave Right, Zelek is Maletoth's servant. But I was almost certain that the second game's storyline had Zelek seeking revenge for his earlier defeat by kidnapping Aarbron's sister, so she could be the new beast messenger. Anywho, I never quite understood how a... a FOOT was the final boss in the first game... :/

@aerik9 is i remember right Zelek is only mentioned in Beast 2. Maltooth is mentioned in 2 and 1. I think (its been a long time) zelek with maltooths servent or somthing like that.

@trydowave How do you know it's Maletoth's foot? I thought the backstory for Beast 2 talked about Zelek's defeat in the first game?

@aerik9. Sorry mate. It's actually Maltooth's foot at the end of beast 1. Zelek is the final boss from beast 2 :)
