To preserve the conditions on our planet that make it hospitable. To save the world's ecosystems. To protect billions of people in third world countries who will be impacted by global warming the most. To prevent catastrophic sea level rise. To preserve the Amazon. To prevent positive feedback loops and tipping points that will cause runaway global warming. Etc. Etc.

Liars and deniers. The problem is how easily people are manipulated by such movies

The idea of CO2 being a cause is stupidly false is just an observation.
Carbon is a very abundant element in the universe in the top 10 in abundance. All living matter has carbon in it, even most people.
Carbon dioxide is a trace gas in the earth's atmosphere about like 0.04% not a lot me thinks. The concentration of CO2 by volume is around 400 ppm.
Climate change has become an emotionally driven issue with a lot of money involved go figure.
It would be wise to take some organic chemistry.
