SYNOPSIS
West Coast Poppers is a hip hop documentary that provides an in-depth look into a hip hop dance in
Los Angeles known as "Popping" aka "Pop-locking". This dance form has captivated audiences for
more than 3 decades. It started as an alternative for poor inner city kids and sometimes troubled
youth. It has been the escape and spirit of something better.
As a social and cultural force, popping influence can be seen in the early days of L.A. hip hop
and the present time in music videos, TV shows and numerous films like Breakin' 1 & 2,
You Got Served and Step Up 3D. You can now meet the real dancers that inspired this global
influence for this funk/hip hop dance known as Pop-locking and fashion trends.
For the first time you will hear from some of the dancers that inspired and trained Michael Jackson.
Featured cast: L.A.'s most notorious Pioneers of Popping and present days hottest dancers of
this style. Also featured Old School artist such as Egyptian Lover, Newcleus and Planet Patrol
& more.
