  • You are from Chicago? lol

  • @IslenoGutierrez Chicago was settled by A Haitian Creole and for Your info, It too was a French possession. My Louisiana Ancestors go back to the 18th Century long before the Spanish took possession of Louisiana My ancestors are veterans of the Battle of New Orleans & All of Them live throughout the State of Louisiana .Many left Because Your Ancestors chased them away with their Racist ways. I'm a Louisiana Raised in Chicago. I live in New Orleans in Gentilly and also California..So what !!

  • @IslenoGutierrez

The term Creole (Spanish - Criollo) was introduced in 1590. It derived from the Latin word “crear”, which meant, “create.” In 1590, Father J. de Acosta decided that the mixed breeds born in the New World were neither Spanish, African, Indian, but various mixtures of all three, thus a created Race

Garcilaso de la Vega, "The Inca," writing in the early 1600's, tells us: "The name was invented by the Negroes. They use it to mean a Negro born in the Indies,

    Lets Stop it here

  • You want documentation, go to the Loyola University website and search Kate Chopin. There is a whole lot of documentation. On both types of Creoles.

  • @IslenoGutierrez

Why should I go to Loyola University to research this Lady. She's no authority on Free Persons of Color and she's certainly not a Creole of Color..For that matter she is neither a Historian She Writes novels so It's a moot issue.. Maybe You should pick up a Creole Book and get the other picture perhaps You can learn something about Other..The Real world is not Exclusively reserved for Whites

  • Omg dude! Where do you get your info from? I actually took a Louisiana Studies class in college here in Louisiana, I read numerous short stories and novels from Kate Chopin. She talks about the French Creoles (White Creoles). She says the French Creoles of the French Quarter being responsible for the culture and architecture of the French Quarter. Go look her up.

  • @IslenoGutierrez

Who Cares What Kate Cholin says...She speaks for Your community not Ours lets stop this negativity ..She's speaks for The European not the Multi Racial Creoles Who were not even given the time of day in Ante Bellum Louisiana..Again stop throwing this sort of thing up in Our Faces listen to the truth and not someone who glorifies White Creoles..Do You really know anything about the Creole of Color other that what You hear others say ??

  • I think you are thinking of this other Creole website called Creole New Orleans (dot) type pad (dot) com and Augustine does not own that site! A man name Theodore Duplesis owns that site and yes he is ignorant but not all Creoles are like so stop prejudging us all!

  • So your arguing with her because...? Why do you care about how she views herself? Mixed ppl are allowed to be mixed. It doesn't mean they hate any part of them. The problem with black ppl (generally) is they jump to that conclusion just because someone calls themselves mixed instead of black...oh now they must hate being black. Wrong.

you told that you love kreyol but you didn't spoke kreyol one time

  • Creole isn't a race. It's a type of language that originates from a pidgin (a contact language that blends elements of 2 or more languages that is used when people of different languages need to communicate).

"Creole" is descended from a pidgin, the only difference is that it possesses it's own native speakers with linguistic expansion and elaboration. Creole doesn't just belong to people of Louisiana and New Orleans, there are creole languages all over the world.

  • To all of you, stop fighting. Creole does not refer to color. It is the mixture of any Colored with a European. It is a mixture or different races like Native American, African, European and nowadays we have Chiney who are Asian Creole. Let say any one who can trace 2 of these races can call him/herself creole or mulatto as it used to be called. The word creole was mostly for the descent of Slaves borns in the Antilles (French Caribbean). At the end, though, Jesus knows no color!

  • @augustinecomeaux

    I'm creole and love it..

  • @augustinecomeaux Um, Kate Chopin was a Creole from centuries ago. She does not live today. She was an author of books on her culture as well as the Creoles of Color. She wrote books on French Creoles and Creoles of Color. Her heritage was Creole. I actually have picked up many books on Creoles. There are two kinds of Creoles - The French Creoles, um the Whites like me, and Creoles of Color or also known as Black Creoles - um, Mulattos like you. Done. Ok there it is. You happy.

  • @augustinecomeaux I know this already, I'm not doubting that the name Creole was given to Blacks in Latin America, But in Louisiana that usage was not in use to describe mixed race people at the time. The French/Spanish got wind of it through the Spanish and Criollo became Creole. In New Orleans, the White French Creoles were the first to use this term in the Colony of Louisiana. They built an entire society around the name. That's why when you go to the French Quarter, you see the word Creole.

  • BRAVO CAMEAUX, YOUR NAME SAYS IT ALL, YOU GOT A CREOLE NAME, OR LET'S SAY FRRENCH, A LOT OF PPL OUT THERE DO NOT KNOW ABOUT CREOLE. AND THEY DISCRIMINATE AGAINST CREOLE

WE NEED TO SUPPORT CREOLE SPEAKING IN AMERICA, FOR , IT IS AN AMERICAN LENGUAGE.

I HATE WHEN THOSE STUPID PEOPLE TELL ME "SPEAK ENGLISH"
