The difference is that Dr. Paul's ideas/ideals are the same as those of our Founding Fathers.
Santorum's ideas/ideals are those of a young, big-mouthed, ego-maniac without a clue about The Constitution nor about our nation's history... ALL THE WAY TO TODAY. He has proven that he doesn't understand the most basic fundamentals of our nation's government, how it was started & why it was structured the way it was.
He's also, clearly, an asshole.
Ron Paul 2012.

@esigus I like how you say "we don't need some... Idealists." My friend, Ron Paul's ideas about the free market controlling everything the epitome of idealism....
-
He's been in Congress over 30 years, singing the same tune. He doesn't waver. He has integrity.
He knows how the system works & what's wrong with it.
We need experience, honesty (not bought & paid for fat cats owned by corporate interests or the military industrial complex) & integrity & he's the ONLY one who's got it
We don't need some young, idealist who doesn't understand how our system works or how it's supposed to work. We need unwavering strength & leadership & wisdom
He's hope

Right... the people would "fend for themselves." Absolutely. The government did little to nothing that helped. FEMA went around barking orders & doing nothing. Any help that the people received, they got through volunteers & direct, personal charities. The federal government was a mess mess mess. Remember the women sitting outside the arena/convention centers with their babies & no fresh water or diapers? That was FEMA. The People finally got in & helped, not the government.
-
1) With Dr. Paul in office, our National Guard & Reserve would be at home to take care of what they were structured to take care of.
2) The states would have more money because the federal government wouldn't be taking our money.
It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that our federal government is a complete mess & makes a complete mess out of every single thing it touches.

why don't we have flood insurance? i never thought of this until now but ron paul made it so obvious. of course! there's too much risk for the corporations and why have the government pay for it and put risk on people that don't even face the dangers of hurricanes. he really is a champion of the free market
-
Which is better? Huge Compulsive Bureaucracies taking in a ton of money yet not even handling a penny properly? or having a bunch of charities & people help groups that voluntarily give almost 100% of the money received directly to people in need?
Volunarism: Money recieved --> Charities --> (99%) --> People in need
Fema: Tax people--> 10-20% already get lost--> 10-20% gets to fema --> all that money disappears --> not even a penny manages to get to the people
-
hold on- u r missing the point little child. Most of the help that actually got through to Katrina, was NOT NOT NOT through FEMA & centralized buraucracy. it was through people, charities, & people organizations. it was through voluntarism not compulsory waste!
-
He is so spot on with American foreign policy, but some stuff he says makes no sense. Anyone else notice the long, rambling and disconnected response he gave to the FEMA question. He basically said he would let people fend for themselves.
-
How? he wouldn't be interfering in the free market int he first place. Actually he's about freeing the market. We haven't had a free market in 50 years.
One way that he can win is; If you support Ron Paul, register as a republican and vote in your states primary in '08

Hes right, I was in Iraq twice; there was a bunch of useless, senseless no good crap just sitting around with no purpose. Like the Chow Halls on the big bases that we hardly went on... those chow halls are better than the ones we have here in the states! I survived just fine in Fallujah on MREs and scorching hot bottled water.
