They used to fill those barrals with water, but now fill them with sand. Example, the 2008 crash at Watkins Glen.

yeah i just did, the canadian GP in montreal
and like holy shit man, i havent seen a race so exiting in ages
crashes, overtakes, heavy rain - it had it all
a usual race lasts 2 hours, this was stopped for 30min because of the heavy rain and took 4h
button won the race in the last lap after falling to the 21st place, by forcing vettel to make an error :D
and then massa and kobayashi came across the line side-by-side, the difference was 0.045s :D:D

You don't make it into the highest Nascar Series without knowing what you're doing... A few of these guys might be impatient or immature but NONE of them are bad drivers.
