  • Don Helms was almost as important of an ingredient in the Hank Williams sound as Hank was himself. I'm NOT trying to cut Hank down either, though. He is the father of modern country music, and its first great superstar. But, is it any wonder , though, that a very high percentage(nearly all) of country acts used the steel guitar in their bands? Don Helms was and is my favorite steel guitarist, pedals or no pedals-R.I.P Don, you are missed very much.

  • Magical.

  • How can there be a dislike for this soulful playing?

  • Great country music just HAS to have steel guitar. It was also a staple instrument in the sound of the Marshall Tucker Band.

  • Goosebumps

  • Don once said that when Hank died he was never the same, bet Hank would have said the same thing about him had it been reversed
