As long as CMS continues to tout itself as an urban school district and treats the suburban schools, parents, and taxpayers as stepchildren, there will be friction in this community.
this video is very true but the people who keep the schools together maintance wise are not mentioned, i do not belive this was done on purpose, but you cant forget about building services (The grounds workers, carpentry, hvac, plumbing, roofing, welders, electronics, electricions, pest contol, painters, sign shop.) some of the guys that work in these departments havent seen raises is just as long as teachers or longer and these are the men and women who keep the schools safe to go into everyday
Intresting how you only hear about the "good" side of CMS but what you don't hear is that the teachers get pushed and mistreated by the students and the local administration at the schools don't do a thing. Accountability is non-existant at CMS schools and the students are running the show. Give the teachers a raise and and the ability to kick misbehaving students out of the classrooms.
I would definitely support any tax increased that would be used to increase teacher salaries. I respect and have a great deal of appreciation for my child's teachers and even the teachers I had when I was in school. They have a hard job and should not have to leave school and go to a 2nd job just to afford the roof over their heads. As tep1263 has expressed, teachers are responsible for educating the millionaires and billionaires of our society. It is unfair that they are not paid more!
A 3% pay increase after 4-5 years of holding steady is the LEAST we should do for our teachers. Classroom size has grown, the school have had to cut staff, and they've lengthened the school day. These all add up to more work for the teachers and all support staff when are unpaid to begin in. Without outstanding teacher where will the overpaid corporate executives, athletes and politicians get a decent education? Thank you to those who teach and support our kids.
oops. The State replaced all of the chalk boards with white boards, but the students have to supply the markers for teachers to use, in addition to copy paper. Technology is great, but I've heard that a light bulb for some of the projectors cost $300! Really? Someone is ripping off our school system.
I think the salaries for other CMS positions needs to be revealed. Many positions in the Central office, or even the transportation department pay 3,4, or 5 times more than teachers. I think there are also more office staff in schools than what is necessary. The State re

At 00:17, this video has already turned me off. CMS has had an increase in their total budget every year.
