  • The difference btwn judo and jiu jitsu is mainly the fact that judo is alot like wrestling, with throw, take downs and diversions. While jiu jitsu has all that and more. Like strikes, pressure points, weapons training, and quicker, faster break your bones sort of stuff. Not that judo isnt effective, its just that judo is a smaller branch from the trunk of jiu jitsu

  • it should be noted though that IMO Judo is the greatest advancement in the history of jujutsu. sure Jigoro Kano removed alot of the deadly things, but in doing so he discovered randori, which more than makes up for the lack of "deadly techniques" ..judo is jujutsu...judo is a way of practicing and improving your jujutsu. the techniques of judo come from tenshin shinyo ryu jujutsu (grappling and striking), and kito ryu jujutsu (throwing) mainly. look at it as a whole, its very much jujutsu.

  • one of the easiest to land on noobs :)

  • That top comment is absurd, all the BJJ dudes 'likening it' no doubt.

First of all, BJJ comes from kodokan Judo.

Secondly, there is not more in BJJ than in Judo,

Thirdly, there are tons of things taught in Judo that BJJ doers are unaware of, and dont de facto know like, the throws, Uchi Mata and so on.

  • @burning1er Karate has more than a 'handful' of functional attacks. Karatekas go and fight in kickboxing tournaments, in K1, in MMA - people like GSP, Machida, etc - so perhaps you should have a little more respect and understanding of the martial art that you dont know, lest you want to appear as an ignoramus.

  • @OnlyPwn4Fun

If applied correctly 15 seconds could be enough. Some people apply it very slightly off and basically all they're doing is crushing the trachea with their wrist.. This won't choke them out very quickly but it's very painful.. If the choke isn't working you can also make this a neck crank by pressing your shoulder blades together and then leaning backwards.

Umm.. no? Read your comment and research the roots of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu before you post something as ridiculous as that again..

  • @cjphiltom karate has a handful of functional attacks. BJJ has thousands. End of story. If you want to supplement with some striking too, take MMA or Muay thai classes as well.

  • @cjphiltom fuck karate man lol brazilian jiu jitsu all the way theres so much to learn

  • Hey I'm thinking of taking up a martial art and I don't whether to do Karate or Jiu Jitsu, what's your suggestion?

  • How long would this take for them to pass out?

  • @TheMediaSwitch well you will need a partenr to train thats for sure... you can learn basics things, i can do some stuff but when it comes to positioning and that is better to have someone to correct what you r doing
