Join Earth Dr Reese Halter an award winning Science Communicator: Voice for Ecology and distinguished conservation biologist at California Lutheran University on Sunday July 17, 2011 as MSNBC host Richard Lui asks about the extreme July (2011) drought and heat wave smothering most of the United States .
The price of food is rising because we are burning our corn. They are using it to make ethanol! Don't forget, not only is corn used to feed people, but it is also used in feeds for cattle, so meat will get more expensive. Corn feed is used for poultry, so the price will also rise there. And remember, farmers growing corn for ethanol are being subsidized by the government. Forget about the heat. You're putting corn in your vehicles! That's the number one problem and it's going to get a lot worse!
