This was my entry in the 2007 National History Day competition. It advanced to the Colorado State History Day competition where it won first and qualified to nationals. At the national competition, however, it did not make it to the final round. Regardless, I had a fantastic time making it and I learned an astonishing amount (this was the first video that I ever put together). If you have questions or want to chat about the history day program, the documentary or anything else, just leave a comment. Let me know what you guys think!

By the way, about the part one and two thing, for some reason, YouTube rejected my video for being too long (even though it is smaller than 100 MB and falls a few frames below the 10 minute limit). Shortening it up to 9:59 didn't seem to help, so I've split it into parts. I tried to make sure the split is logically placed, but please know that it was originally presented all as one 10-minute video. Thanks for understanding; hopefully I'll get this one resolved soon!

  • This is great piece of film work and I really like your narration!! The music track is barely audioble tho... no doubt a result of youtube.

  • Yes, YouTube has done many things to it, that being one of them. I've seen it happen to lots of other videos up here, too. It sounds fine on my computer, but I can't here the music up here either. I can try and post a new version where I just do an audio gain of a few dB all across my music tracks. Maybe I can get it to all go in one video, too.

  • By the way, sorry about the quality, this was the best of all of my trials. If anybody knows of a way to make it look better (I'm exporting using QuickTime Pro conversions from Final Cut Express), advice would be much appreciated.

  • wow, that was amazing! great job :)what video-editing software did you use? :D

  • OMG this is sooo much better than the ones that advanced to the finals this year. I had a group doc and got screwed by an all female judging panel who were "disinterested in rocketry," i had a doc on the V-2 Rocket, but also watched the individuals. i bet u were pissed

  • wow that was truly amazing, thats the best one i have seen out here. I'm suprised that you didnt make it further in NHD. P.S. i think the quality looks fine-dont worry about it
