Actually it's Fuller's earth, a sedimentary mineral sometimes used in cosmetics for its ability to absorb oil. It's also offered to chinchillas for use as a dust bath.

@lastxwriter All are doing well, except Riccio’s mobility. He’s elderly and has some trouble getting around, but still eats his mealies enthusiastically and loves to snuggle. :)
