as a former soldier i can say that i feel used by the government telling us lies to enter the war.

i never killed a man untill i went to iraq, i killed at least 5 in 1yr after the start of the war give or take a month. this haunts me as i am now sure that it was for nothing.

when you are in active duty you are not allowed to publicly comment against the commander and chief, unless you want to get imprisoned.

we arn't actually fighting al-queda in Iraq, their are in afgan, only 2% of the people we have fought in iraq are actually al-queda.

don't speak of Islamic believers as tho they are all crazy and suicidal. Most of them probally more like people you know, moderate, cool headed, and reasonable.

lets not forget that christianity has its ugly reps KKK,Christian identity movement,and the various groups who suicide bombed abortion clinics, they are all christians and identify as christian groups

@bapyou Like Prof.Adams, it was evident to me also back then that the Christian right was finding the door to govermental power wide open.Reagan&Falwell were joined at the hip.The coup is almost complete.Every single Repub tows the Christian line.Some Dems too!The great author Sinclair Lewis said it best in the 1920's "When facism comes to America it will come wrapped in the flag and bearing the cross" Timely, yes?Yes, Chris Hedges is an important voice in these times. I admire him greatly.

Although five years old now, Hedges' book is still timely, urgent and valuable, as is all of his work. Read 'American Fascists' if you haven't done so already.

@amazingjames311 thank you for your brave comment. im left wondering though .. do you personally think that there is a single marine who got deployed to iraq and who didnt kill a person? in your unit and other units you know of, did you ever encounter a soldier who hadnt killed a person at the end of his/her term? btw i will pray for you and for your victems may Allah forgive you and your victems.

I was in Marine Artillery roughly when Fallujah was re-invaded and I know for certain that white phosphorous was not used. I worked as a Scout Observer and also did plenty of time in the FSCC, so I was well aware of what could and couldn't be used.
