This past week both candidates reversed positions - Obama on public financing, McCain on offshore drilling. Whose flip was worse than whose flop? We match 'em up in today's Sunday Show Roundup episode of TPMtv.

  • I heard faux news causes cancer.

  • McCain didn't care about black people or the NAACP and he went in front of the NAACP and now shows that he cares about blacks: That is a black flip flop!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If he didn't take it they would be saying how stupid he was for not taking his position. You can see how the pundits don't anything else worthy to talk about. How about resolutions to gas prices, homeforclosures, ending the war in Iraq war.

  • It doesn't make sense to me why so many people would get on Obama about wanting to use more money for his campaign but barely even notice that McCain and Bush and everyone other influential Republican changes their positions on things all the time. Wanting to use more money in your campaign is a whole lot less of an issue than global climate change, I would think...

  • The both of them are full of crap!

  • The situation just gets a lot messier.

  • if it's your opponent, it's a flipflop...if it's your ally (or dare we say, if it's you on national television) it's changing ones' position.

  • It is a flip-flop. Sure, be a politician. But don't give the impression that you're not a politician.

Also, poor Obama supporters. They've been reduced to parsing his words and then relying on the meaning of "is".

In the end Obama has to run based on his merits. He can't just base his campaign on "McAin't".
