I have not bought it yet, my home is still under construction. I saw the VPL-VW50 at a high end theater store and the picture was VERY crisp, super nice. I'll look into the JVC DLA -RS2

crap - I use mine everyday in daylght all curtains open - awsome projector goes to show never listen to amatures in buying desicions.globes are pricey though......

You must have a new bulb or short distance between screen and projector. I agreed that you can watch video without closing all your curtains but the video quality is not as great as my Optoma HD65 (1600 lumens).

I do have a dedicated media room with no windows, I've seen the picture on this projector and the picture looks sweeet.
What would you recommend instead of the VPL-VW50 ?

Have you brought it yet? I had read many review and it seem to said that this VW50 is not even close to JVC DLA-RS2 or Rs1. I personally know that I will never in my life time will see a JVC DLA-RS2 in person, it to expensive for me. I got the VW50 for less than $1000

The JVC RS is way more expensive than the VW-50! That's comparing apples to oranges.

True but Sony tend to exaggerated all the spec. compare to JVC RS. Take example AE4000 VS Epson 8500 Lumen, only Espon have 2000 lumen (as advertise).
