Another long call with Mark, a member of the Austin Stone Community Church ( http://www.austinstone.org ), who expresses his fear that children who watch The Atheist Experience will literally burn in hell.

Mark previously called in during show #695 (with Russell Glasser and Martin Wagner) and show #696 (with Matt Dillahunty and Jeff Dee). This appears to be the same caller as "Andrew" from show #686 and "Mike" from show #693.

This is a long excerpt from The Atheist Experience #704 of April 10, 2011 (topic: "a couple of news items") with Russell Glasser and Tracie Harris. The complete episode is archived on Blip.tv:

WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?

The Atheist Experience is a weekly cable access television show in Austin, Texas geared at a non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin. The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

  • This guy is either a fake trying to make theist look bad, or he is a mentally challenged person who has been captured by religion. If it is the latter, this is actually a very sad video, but the saddest perhaps most revealing fact is that is very difficult to tell which is the case.

  • @SijanTower - "This guy is either a fake trying to make theist look bad, or he is a mentally challenged person..."

Yes, later he turned out to be a troll.

  • It's pretty scary that there are actually people like this guy Mark alive in the 21st century.

    - "Is this an actual show that still runs? And on what channel, or what is the channel name?"

The Atheist Experience is a local television show from Austin, Texas. It's only on the local cable television network there, but you can also follow the live shows on Ustream.tv and on Channel Austin's live stream (channel 16). Shows are archived on Blip.tv. This is a fan channel, but I try to upload the new shows weekly. Older shows can be found on the DonBakerTheAtheist channel.

  • I know Mark wasn't real.. (and now that I know it, it's obvious in the way he hesitates at hard questions instead of just going "no no no you've got it all wrong, God isn't like that") but he sure did a good job of promoting the Austin Stone church. I wonder if he brought the show to the attention of the church, and I wonder if their kids really are being deconverted.

  • He sounds a bit like Dane Cooke..his voice is so spot on 0_0

  • Christians say they can see god, does god have nipples?

  • Do a search for a video series called "you suck at photoshop"... sounds exactly like this guy

  • At the top of the list is laziness. Instead of asking an atheist, try doing 30seconds of research. I'm assuming you have access if you're reading this.

    - "Really? How do you know he was trolling? You mean it was a prank call?"

A series of prank calls, sometimes under different names. When people started to recognize his voice, he revealed himself as an annoying troll on the (old) Atheist Experience blog, where he got banned. So yes, unfortunately this clown was fake, but the hosts are not, so the discussions are still entertaining.
