  • Hey Ronan,

I'm a recording arts student, in Newfoundland, Canada. I already have a number of dynamic mics and now I am looking for a good condenser mic. I have about a $1000-2000 budget . I was thinking about a AKG C414 or an Audio Technica AT4050. What do you think about those mics, what would you recommend of those or others?

    Thanks,

    Peter

  • @QueensChoice In that price range you might want to look at the Audio Technica AT-4060. Its cardiod only but a great sound. If you wanted something with more character you could look at the Pearlman TM-1, and if you were to stay on the lower end of your budget I would look at the Shure KSM32 or KSM44. The 414 and 4050 are very good mics, but I think there are other more interesting mics in their price range.

  • Hi Ronan great vid! Really could use your Help!!!!!! I’m looking for a decent mic pertinent to rap vocals. Tried the USB AT2020 condenser but found its way to sibilant for my voice even with a pop filter! Was looking at the SM58, however, from the reviews it seems a little muddy/dull. Any suggestions???? Many thanks Paul!

  • @yusuf1608 an SM58 is not muddy or dull, The album I just finished mixing we used an SM58 for lead vocals on almost the entire album. It will not have the really bright top end of a cheap condenser but it is a great sounding mic on many voices.

  • is the Audio Technica AT202o condenser a good microphone?

  • @yungmagickidd Sorry I have not really used it enough to know.

  • Ronan hello,i am far from my dream to rap,'cuz i want to record at home but i don't know what gear i need. Please help me (No to expensive) :) Thank you

    P.S Nice video

  • @MrLittlemurder ..I found for recording... Neumann, for the U87..are charging the price of a Reference Tube mic. If you are in U87 price range try and find a good price on a AKG C12VR or a Manley Ref C..because THAT is what you are paying for. In high end solid state species, which the U87 is..I understand the Shure KSM32 & AKG414XLS are up there..but at an apro.price. I have big ears and maybe can hear sounds that only dogs hear but U87 sounds like it is missing sd above a cert. hearable freq.

  • @RonansRecordingShow Dear Ronan then please give me advice, what mic to buy from 1000 to 1500 dollars vor vocal
