How to help your snake when they have a bad shed. This is Amabel, a recent addition. Apparently didn't have quite enough humidity for a good all over shed.

  • My ball python is shedding any tips and how long will it take ?

  • @RagnaShinigami normally a shed can take about a week to week and a half for the complete process of going into blue eye then the shedding. Make sure your tank is about 60-63% humid or you can mist your snake a few times a day...or provide a moist "hide"...hope this helps!

  • how long o they take to shed

  • @sk8jon2 it can be as quickly as a few days after blue eye or a week depending on stress, health, humidity sorry I left that out

  • whats with the I'd shoot you comments?

  • @Anderson0457 wow just saw all of them and deleted them...

  • @robbinlara tht coloring has happened about a month ago

  • @unalphabet ok I just saw your page and let me just say sorry first of all for being rude in the first place, secondly....I am gonna just remove that comment, ...lastly...that on your snake it could be a bacterial growth or it could be where he has had a rough shed ...usually when the scales have indentations it's a lack of humidity. I can't tell because the cam is kinda blurry but was it always a different color or is this recent it has appeared?

  • @SuperDuperSteez it is completely normal and the process is called "blue eye" when the eyes get hazy, the shedding is a natural part of growth

  • @Saccillia I am not familiar with Iggys but offhand I'd say the same basic principles apply...you need good conditions (I.E.: humidity, diet, heat, environment) to promote healthy sheds

  • @Saccillia a "bad shed" is when it does not come off your animal completely or in it is in pieces or eye caps get stuck or around the tip of the tail or cloaca...yes it's bad to pull it off without soaking it could rip scales off

  • @sk8jon2 it depends on the animal, humidity & your care regime. If all is done well it should be an easy shed but sometimes stress will make them have a bad shed, or skin/keratin issues....
