This is the edited version of the video that I shoot while preparing the silicone rubber layer for my homemade multitouch display. The original video is nearly two hours long so I speed up it and edited with some useful informations as titles. I hope it may help anyone who's going to prepare a similar compliant surface!
Enjoy!

  • How did you make a multitouch display from this "silicone rubber layer"?

  • you'll find a lot of informations about this on my website

  • Thanks, but somehow your website doesn´t work on my computer.

  • Wow, that's strange, would you be so gentle to describe me better the issue with the website so I can try to fix it? Please email me, you'll find the address in the about page, thank you!

  • I still don't understand the idea of applying a rubber surface, as aren't you supposed to apply a sketch/tracing paper on top of the plexiglass?

  • the problem comes from the use of a rear projection film on the acrylic because they do not couple well, so the rubber is used to improve the coupling of those materials

  • The layer is needed if you use a projection screen. Otherwise the blobs won't be detected.

  • Yes you can but surface & sides must be clean n clear. You can use Acrylic Sheet. That is best for this project n also recommend.

  • Couldn't you just sandwich the silicone between 2 sheets of plexiglass??

  • You need too apply the silicone rubber to reflect the IR light.

  • can anyone let me know why exactly you apply that layer?

  • Hi there ,
