Robert Mirabal's music speaks to the heartbeat of his cultural heritage and also transcends to the hearts of us all. I recommend his music to all and what a fantastic idea -- if he could be brought to travel to high schools and colleges -- what a message he could spread about the love of all people for each other --

I think perhaps you confused my words. I was saying that I do NOT let the Am. Gov. name me. I choose to call myself AmerIndian. And I know who I am in my heart and that is all that really matters. I cringe every time I hear Native Am. I don't need anyone to tell me who I am. The Creator named us in the beginning and will call our names in the end times. aho

For the names we were originally given were endowed upon us by our CREATOR!!!

We are not Native Americans, for our people were here before this land was called America. In the same way that white Americans call themselves Americans, yet say "I am Irish, I am Italian or Polish. We TOO go by our tribal names: Lakota, Oglala, Apache, Navajo, etc.

If you wish to get caught up in this age of ridiculous political correctness, that's totally up to you. I am no relation to Americus Vespuci, the man "big brother" got the name America from!

@0819Marlene Not 'liberated" woman - but I will answer your question. Anyone born in this land is a Native American, a name the federal government gave us. Just like whites called us Indian. We have "owned" Indian, we should not own NA (not applicable -does not apply) We are the first, we deserve to have the Amer. first. I like AmerIndian. But that's just me. It kinda galls to say Native American, another way to take away what makes us who we are. Indigenous is better than NA. '@v@'

Your comment makes me wonder what is wrong with you. I would like to know exactly what you consider higher quality in drama, dance and music than the work of Robert Mirabal...

Maybe it is just a question of taste in music styles?
