Well well, they'd been talking about doing it for the last couple years, and UPRR finally got it done. This crossing has now been upgraded to a 4-quad gate setup. Nice of them to retain the cantilevers from the previous install though. Things were really jammed at this point. I'd passed two WB's as I drove out of Boone. (One just leaving the yard and one just getting pulled in.) As well as two more WB's stopped waiting to enter the yard before the West Central elevator. I waited about 30 minutes and nothing had moved... and was about to give up. But I got smart and circled back by the yard again and noticed an EB just about to leave... so I doubled it back to this crossing again. After about another 15 minute wait, I finally caught this crossing in action!

  • was there a reason for putting in this type of gates? I think your frame rate is set wrong... should be 60 or 120 frames per second.. the whole video is choppy... it still good

  • Yeah, I don't use anything fancy. Just a cheap Panasonic Digital camera that takes video as well. Highest FPS it allows is 30. But of all the footage I took this day, this was the only one that caused the "strobe" effect. I've got better things to spend the money for a fancy camera on anyway, since I just do this recreation-ally.

  • Are those lights really strobing, or is it just he camera?

  • LOL, you got to it before I caught it. Nope, camera malfunction.

  • LED's will mess with a camera lens almost every time. most likely not the camera malfunctioning. Good video though! Definitely don't see very many of the quad-gates around unless it's a multiple lane road and more than one gate is needed to help stop the same direction of traffic as opposed to preventing "drive arounds" like this crossing is.

  • I know it was his camera, but the "strobing" effect looked cool. I dunno, a strobing light, I think, is more of an attention grabber than a steady light.

  • i agree.... i have a web cam dont work in the sun:) when i find a job i am going to buy a cam

  • I really do not like them either and they do not shut off til the crossing shuts off which is annoying!!...

  • Good Lord, those "bells" are awful sounding! Must be those WCH things. ...Anyway, good video! ..it be 'strokin

  • Oh ok. haha
