Don't be caught at sea unprepared -- make your vacation as comfortable as possible.
To complete this How-To you will need:
A carry-on bag
Travel documents
Medications
Sunblock
Versatile clothing
A sweater or jacket
A swimsuit
Sandals or flip-flops
A cover-up
Walking shoes
Plastic bags
Formal attire
Toiletries
A duffel bag
Batteries
A camera
Chargers
A large suitcase
An additional swimsuit (optional)
Zip-top plastic bags (optional)
Step 1: Prepare a carry-on bag
Prepare a carry-on bag with travel documents, your passport, medications, sunblock, and one change of clothes and underwear.
Tip: Place toiletries and medications in plastic zippered bags to prevent accidental leaking onto your clothing.
Step 2: Lay out versatile clothing
Lay out casual clothing that doesn't wrinkle easily, and that you can wear more than once without washing. Choose versatile pieces that can be worn in different ways. Include a sweater or jacket.
Step 3: Choose a swimsuit and sandals
Choose a swimsuit, a pair of sandals or flip-flops, and something to cover up with if you prefer a bit of modesty while walking to the pool.
Tip: Pack at least two swimsuits so you never have to put on a cold, wet suit.
Step 4: Place shoes in a plastic bag
Place a pair of comfortable walking shoes in a plastic bag. If you go on any excursions, you can place your sandy, dirty shoes in the bag to keep other clothes clean.
Step 5: Pick out a formal outfit
Choose one to two formal outfits and a pair of shoes for formal dining.
Tip: Check with your cruise line to find out if there is a dress code for dining. Some cruise lines have semi-formal and formal dining standards that may require you to pack additional clothing.
Step 6: Choose another bag
Pack a small duffel bag to use for items purchased during your trip.
Step 7: Place film and batteries in a bag
Pack batteries, camera, accessories, chargers, and any other electronics in a plastic bag.
Step 8: Put everything in a large suitcase
Put everything except the contents of your carry-on bag in a large suitcase and get ready for your departure. Bon Voyage!
