  • I can offer my best interpretation of the opening passage, based on my own years of Sanskrit study and kirtan leading. This should be very close:

    "To Shiva, to the penultimate god, to the moon-crested: salutations...OM.

    To the one who is (the state of) Being, to the one who is the source of the quality (condition, state) of bliss,

    To the one who dances the tandava ("dance of destruction"): salutations...OM."
