This is Ngarritj the White Cockatoo in Djalu's house, Birritjimi, Arnhem Land

I was surprised to see this in Djalu's house. Apparently, this is my brother-in-law, he has the skin name Ngarritj just like a person and I guess Djalu calls him gaminyarr, grandson. As you can hear in the video, Dopiya says to Ngarritj that his mit, his brother-in-law, is taking his video, that's me!

Ngarritj dances and prances about on his perch inside the house at Birritjimi. He doesn't look too healthy as most of his feathers have fallen off... I don't know if he was rescued and is being looked after as a result of something having happened to him, or if his condition has deteriorated after becoming a pet, or family member should I say.

Anyway, was nice listening to Ngarritj cackling away in the morning whilst I stayed in Djalu's house, that was what told me that dawn was breaking... don't need a rooster in Arnhem Land.

@YolnguVideo i don't know actually, I've only ever seen him at Wallaby Beach, he wasn't at Galuru before so it could well be the same Ngarritj from Nyinyikay'!
