Also, regarding the 'pretty good' vs 'really good', does this mean that the Rode ntg2 is short of 'really good'?

well yeah but like "the whole package" so to speak...because i've had some realatively horrible sound in the past, and yet i'm not a very big budget guy, you know? haha

@AKAgbird Oh gotcha. For a boom mic, you can find some pretty good $200 ones, but if you want really good audio you'll need to get closer to $400 or $600. Boom pole doesn't matter as much, just make sure you have a good shock mount.
