Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925)
In the first decade of the 20th century, August Ewerbeck got word that there were intimate circles in which Rudolf Steiner gave special esoteric training to those admitted to them. So he asked his teacher whether he too might be allowed to attend, and received the astonishing reply: You don't need to! You have understood my Philosophy of Freedom!

  • This video does a poor task of representing Steiner's opinion. re. the idea things that make us happy are illusion so are value-less - he says "Anyone who would eradicate the pleasure brought by the fulfilment of human disires will first have to make man a slave..."

  • @amabodie You only watched part 1 of this topic. You need to watch the second part of this video: Part 3 Rudolf Steiner: What is our Highest Pleasure?

  • This pessimistic view is bullshit, why don't they just kill themselves and stop going on about it? If all pursuits of happiness are an illusion and ultimately pointless then what erges them to share their view with the world? How depressing. What evidence do they have that it is illusion? Infallible access suggests that pleasure is what it is so how can that be an illusion? I hate this.

  • The "hopelessness of egotism" is overcome in the other videos in the Philosophy of Freedom video series by our highest pleasure: action resulting from our intuitive impulses. Click on my name and it will take you to my channel for the rest of the series.

  • wow, most of you guys missed the boat, you must see the boat, but not use your energy to get there, preserve your energy and let the boat come to you. There is of fulfillment, only empties of control, If you don't understand now its ok, you will get another chance to embed them (memory) when your learn to empty with the source.

Let they I be omni to the empty to aum and be governed again by source.

When your are ready , it will come to you before you come to it.

    JOE empty, local space, I

  • @freedomphilosophy I realise that now, I tried looking for it but couldnt find it. Great channel btw, good work!

  • he goes on to say "man values the fulfilment of desire because the desire springs from his own being. If we deny any value to what man wants, then things that do have value will have to be found in something that man does not want. Ethics built on pessimism arises from the disregard of moral imagination."

  • At 4:48 lol

  • There's a thread of Stoicism that runs throughout this....

  • Our intuitive impulses? Yeah.. there is actually some value in that. My thinking has been moving in this direction also recently, mostly due to certain eastern philosophies I have been exploring. Thanks for the explanation.
