The first drug driving tv advert to appear in New Zealand was a collaboration between Candor Trust, Accident Compensation Corporation and Akilla Sleep Safety Foundation.
Drug driving is a major road toll cause in New Zealand, mainly due to widespread cannabis use. Many drug crashes feature very low levels of alcohol - or strong pot. Fatigue or inexperience also often combine to produce the fatal cocktail... resulting in microsleep, poor hazard management and a no brakes applied crash of the worst kind.
The subject remains taboo in New Zealand and one Government is reluctant to stir up - hence ACC did not consent to applying it's branding to the ad it part funded!
yea lets go driving after taking a few tranquilizers
