Slurpee, this paper war game has been around for ages and has never gotten old! I used to love this game. Some kid in 6th grade (when I was in 2nd grade) showed me how to play this - except he used boats.

I play a little differently than want you've shown though, different guys/weapons/etc. The weapon changes what you draw on the paper as well.

No big lines like you were drawing - that's too easy, man! :)

Just to let you know, I am currently making this game with AGS.
