Activated charcoal has an amazing property of being a very strong adsorbent for numerous molecules.
You can make your own sample just by dry distilling a piece of wood and then cooling it before exposing it to air, otherwise it will catch fire.

It seems like someone (on purpose?) placed a disinformation on the Web, saying that activated charcoal does not adsorb ammonia. It does, and it adsorbs it quickly.
