In this short clip recorded in my test world, I showcase a new egg farm setup using the trapdoors that were implemented in beta update 1.6.

Hey it's probably already occurred to you but I Thought I'd point out an additional feature you could add. Instead of manually chunking the eggs place a dispenser in above the stream and attached to a timing circuit. Load the eggs into the dispenser, and they automatically spawn inside a completely sealed loading shaft . Zero chance that a chicken could get away while you're trying to load your farm.
