On a more serious note: You're right that forcing equality of outcome does not make sense but these forms of equality can very easily become tightly entwined. When you set out to improve life for the lowest, yes there will be many lost causes pursued but I don't think a selfless and moral argument can be made for the tight rationing of compassion by those with so much comfort to spare.

You might have food and shelter but I am currrently forced to leave my Youtube postings from my cardboard box with only my Dell Inspiron and cat, Mildew for company .
This isn't even my Wi-fi so don't you talk about shelter!!
-
It exists in countries like Cuba, the African countries, North Korea, Venezuela etc. In Britain, we all go with food, we all have shelter. Guardianista's like to tax everyone but don't like to redistribute their own wealth. Vermin

Well, socialists fail to realise that there are two types of equality. There is equality of opportunity and equality of outcome. The government's only job should be to ensure everyone has equal opportunities. The state should not force equality of outcome. People should be left alalone to pursue their own goals and ambitions. ''Social justice,'' is another phrase that gives the state an excuse to tax the middle classes even more. As does child poverty, which dosen't exist in Britain.
Contempt for education? It is the Labour Party who have shown contempt for education, with their destruction of the country's finest grammar schools. Our school system is now awful, poor children cant get a good education, they are trapped in comprehensive "sink schools".They cant aspire to achieve in life, thanks to Labour's destruction of the education system, hardly any states-school pupils now get to top Uni's,when grammar schools existed 75%of Oxbridge places went to state school pupils!!
