One thing is certain: As important a token Syria maybe it is certainly not that crucial as for example Spain and its vast global empire was, when the European powers fought about the Spanish succession; only if the great powers would be in a total antagonistic state and squabble over every little advantage, while being ready to fight for dominance, it would be possible that their will be a war over Syria; so I guess in the end Russia will chicken out if the USA and its lackeys should attack.

You call Russia one of the most populous nations on earth. They come in at #8. The #1 spot is China, #3 spot is U.S. If you look at GDP, U.S. has double that of China, and our closest ally EU sits at #1. If the globalists wanted to "divide and conquer" they would go after EU, not Russia.
