actually i'd say sugar ray and joe louis had very different styles, though both were devastating punchers with either hand.

That isn't true, Sugar Ray says Louis is his idol. He inspired him tremendously. SRR carried Louis' bags when he went to train at Brewsters gym in Detroit when Ray was younger.

please....Sugar Ray was a already a huge name by the time louis made it. they were friends, think they were raised in the same block. but he wasnt inspired by him at all.
Clear, intelligent & informative. I could listen to this man talk for hours - same way as I could watch his father's great fights for hours. Thank you, Mr Barrow. You had a very very great father.

SRR didn't even turn pro until Louis had been champ for a few years.
Louis was an icon before anyone ever heard of Ray Robinson.
